Waiting for my dinner

Well, I'm waiting for a late supper to finish grilling. My head is aching, and I think my eyeballs will explode so this will be a short blog tonight. Sylvia, thankfully, is in another state. I'm not used to having her so far away from me. I considered asking a guy at the grocery store if I could hug his kid. Yeah, I miss the little rat. She sounds like she's having fun. Apparently Uncle Ronnie forgot what a preschooler is like after drinking Dr. Pepper. She can whiz around the house faster than the Flash.

I saw Clerks II last night. In my opinion, it was probably the funniest Kevin Smith movie yet. I can see why Gene Shalot (or however you spell it) walked out during the donkey scene, but I still thought it was funny as Hell. I was a little grossed out about the conversation over going ass to mouth. Ew. That's just wrong, but a lot of the humor had me busting up in the theater. It was a little overly sentimental in parts, but Jay and Silent Bob managed to inject a little humor into some of those parts.

Well, food is almost done so later!

2:17 a.m. ramble

I just looked at the National Weather Service website, and one thought comes to mind.

I fucking hate summer.

No, really. I'm one of those weirdos who actually prefers the winter because I like sweaters, blankets, hot tea, and soup.

My idea of a good time does not involve sweating my ass off just by standing on the porch for 5 minutes. Maybe I'm just funny like that.

Sooooo . . . I'm going to continue to worship at the altar of my thermostat and thank GOD I have air conditioning. I chat frequently to a guy in Manchester, UK, who complains that few Brits have AC. Well, obviously they're just not as civilized as they'd like the rest of the world to believe. You know, if it wasn't for the lack of AC, I wouldn't mind moving to England just to hear British men talking all the time. There's just something about a man with a British accent . . . RAAAWWWRRRRR!

Poor Andrew. He's as American as a man can be. He votes Republican, drives a Ford, eats his steak rare, and is glad that we whupped the Brits asses in the Revolutionary War. Oh well, he's still my guy.

Time for sleepies now before I pass out on my keyboard.

PANIC!

I am on the edge of panic right now. I haven't had work in over a week, and it looks like it won't be until at least next week before I get more! Sooo . . . that's 3 weeks of UNPAID vacation. Yeah, I'm a little nervous. Andrew is panicking. I'm trying to enjoy the time off, but it's not as much fun if I don't have any money. So far I've watched a lot of Spongebob and other cartoons with Sylvia. We've also painted, played in the swimming pool, gone to the gym and library, and read books together. It's really good for her that I have all this time off. We try to do these things anyway, but she does spend time watching tv or playing by herself. Dad retires later this month so I'm hoping he'll come by to pick her up sometimes so that she can have fun with her grampa instead of hanging around here.

At least Sylvia's not a clingy kid. I'm pretty glad she's an independent kid. It always cracks me up when someone tells me their kid is independent while the kid is clinging to their hip! My kid is truly independent. She gets really pissed when she can't get her Go-gurt open by herself, and she can entertain herself quietly for a long time. I had a friend over to train me on a different report, and her kid was there too. He is 8 months or so younger than Sylvia, but he was constantly in his mom's lap while they were here. It drove Sylvia nuts because she wanted him to go outside and play with her.

With all this free-time, I've had time to watch movies and play some video games. I've been watching a British tv show on DVD that has just fascinated me. I love the lead character's very dry wit, and his assistant is really hot. That always helps enhance the quality of a show. Hot British guys. It's a mystery show which is something else I love. I used to love watching Murder She Wrote, Perry Mason, Matlock, and In the Heat of the Night with Mom when I was a kid. Perry Mason was pretty cool, and I just LOVE a good whodunit. It seems that the Brits have a corner on that market. I'm sorry, but that CSI shit sucks. I hate the lead characters. They're just melodramatic, self-absorbed assholes.

Sooooo, I keep searching the library catalog to see what I can find there. I have access to the stacks in all of the Springfield/Greene County library system. For being a backwoods Ozark county, we sure do have a lot of libraries here! We read a lot for being hillbillies. Anywho, I can check the catalog and the availability of all their material online then request that the material is sent to whatever library I want! So, I don't have to travel to Ash Grove to pick up a book or movie. That's pretty cool! I don't even have to go inside the library because the closest library to me has a drive-thru. Pretty handy!

Ivana Barfalot

I'm not feeling my finest tonight. I'm very tired (lack of sleep) and have a stomach ache. I alternate between fighting back the "technicolor yawn" and suffering through stomach cramps. Mmmmm, luffly.

I tried to post earlier about the hot weather and hot soccer players. Due to my ineptitude, I lost the post. Yeah, I'm sure it takes a freakin' genius to do that. Since I'm not in the mood to try to remember all that was said, I'll recap briefly.

I watched soccer. I'm rooting for Germany. Soccer players are hotter than other athletes. Please see Exhibit A below:

Ok, the expression on the keeper's face isn't the most attractive, but the Portugese player almost made me root against England. If he'd have taken off his shirt, I'd have changed sides in a heartbeat.

You know, more women would watch football if the players didn't look so damn ugly.
