PANIC!
I am on the edge of panic right now. I haven't had work in over a week, and it looks like it won't be until at least next week before I get more! Sooo . . . that's 3 weeks of UNPAID vacation. Yeah, I'm a little nervous. Andrew is panicking. I'm trying to enjoy the time off, but it's not as much fun if I don't have any money. So far I've watched a lot of Spongebob and other cartoons with Sylvia. We've also painted, played in the swimming pool, gone to the gym and library, and read books together. It's really good for her that I have all this time off. We try to do these things anyway, but she does spend time watching tv or playing by herself. Dad retires later this month so I'm hoping he'll come by to pick her up sometimes so that she can have fun with her grampa instead of hanging around here.
At least Sylvia's not a clingy kid. I'm pretty glad she's an independent kid. It always cracks me up when someone tells me their kid is independent while the kid is clinging to their hip! My kid is truly independent. She gets really pissed when she can't get her Go-gurt open by herself, and she can entertain herself quietly for a long time. I had a friend over to train me on a different report, and her kid was there too. He is 8 months or so younger than Sylvia, but he was constantly in his mom's lap while they were here. It drove Sylvia nuts because she wanted him to go outside and play with her.
With all this free-time, I've had time to watch movies and play some video games. I've been watching a British tv show on DVD that has just fascinated me. I love the lead character's very dry wit, and his assistant is really hot. That always helps enhance the quality of a show. Hot British guys. It's a mystery show which is something else I love. I used to love watching Murder She Wrote, Perry Mason, Matlock, and In the Heat of the Night with Mom when I was a kid. Perry Mason was pretty cool, and I just LOVE a good whodunit. It seems that the Brits have a corner on that market. I'm sorry, but that CSI shit sucks. I hate the lead characters. They're just melodramatic, self-absorbed assholes.
Sooooo, I keep searching the library catalog to see what I can find there. I have access to the stacks in all of the Springfield/Greene County library system. For being a backwoods Ozark county, we sure do have a lot of libraries here! We read a lot for being hillbillies. Anywho, I can check the catalog and the availability of all their material online then request that the material is sent to whatever library I want! So, I don't have to travel to Ash Grove to pick up a book or movie. That's pretty cool! I don't even have to go inside the library because the closest library to me has a drive-thru. Pretty handy!
